Over the past weekend, members of the Londonderry Lions Club traveled to the Courville at Bedford-Carlyle Place to present longtime member Robert “Bob” Steenson with the Melvin Jones Fellowship award. The Melvin Jones Fellowship is one of the highest honors that can be given to a member and was given on behalf of the Lions Club International Foundation. Steenson was a very active member of the local club for many years until his failing eyesight forced him to cut back on his volunteerism to the community. Steenson was very grateful to the club members for traveling to Bedford for the presentation, which was also attended by his two children. After being presented with the award, he told members that thanks should go to all the members for all they’ve done for the community over the years. Photos by Chris Paul
