Lloyd David Wertz Jr., 92, of Londonderry died Jan. 14, 2014 with his family by his side.
He was born Sept. 1, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Lloyd D. Wertz and Nana Morgan Wertz. He was the twin of Margaret E. Wertz, who died at birth.
He graduated from Homestead High School in Allegheny County, Pa., Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh, Pa., and the University of Pittsburgh, Class of 1949.
He served as a pilot in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He was vice president of Frank B. Hall Insurance until his retirement in 1989.
He married Loretta Dalton in 1944; they were married 68 years prior to her death in August 2013.
He enjoyed traveling and working on genealogy. He was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Nashua.
He is survived by a son, Lloyd Wertz III, and his wife, Carol, and their children Hunter and Logan of Londonderry; a daughter, Deidre Stone and her husband, Brian, and their children Tara, Patrick and Alison; great-grandchildren Kamrein and Sadie Stone; and a sister, Margaret Wertz of West Mifflin, Pa. He was predeceased by his twin sister, Margaret, and brother, Edward.
Calling hours are Friday, Jan. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 3 Lutheran Drive, Nashua. Burial will be in the spring at Pleasant View Cemetery, Londonderry.
