The Londonderry High School Baseball team finished its regular season last week, achieving an impressive 16-3 record, and will now head into the post season as the number three seed in the DI Championship.
The Lancers had three victories in their final week, giving them four consecutive wins heading into the playoffs.
On Saturday, May 24, Londonderry had a make-up game with the Bishop Guertin Cardinals end in a 9-1 victory at home.
The Lancers had a big five-run, third inning, to help secure the team’s 14th win.
Jaylen Stott got the win, going four innings, giving up just three hits, walking one and striking out eight. Ryan Perry came in, in relief to strike out six in three innings with one walk and no hits.
Zach Mantegari went three-for-four with singles in each of the first three innings.
The third inning featured six singles a sac fly and a error at shortstop to take a 6-0 lead.
On Tuesday, May 27, The Lancers were able to continue the winning steak with a 10-8 over the Purple Panthers in Nashua.
Londonderry had a 9-5 lead heading into the final inning, getting five runs in the second and four in the sixth. They tacked on one in the top of the seventh and held on with after a three-run Panther rally with three ground ball outs to finish the game ahead by two.
Jace Ruggerio had three hits, including a double, to lead the team. Jet Jones had two doubles and went two-for-three at the plate and Caden Jordon had three RBIs on his bases-loaded double in the second inning.
Brady Gillis earned the win, coming in mid-way though the game, striking out seven, walking four and giving up eight runs on eight hits.
In the team’s final game of the regular season, at home on Wednesday against Windham, Londonderry trailed 1-2 heading the bottom of the sixth, where LHS scored five to help catapult them into a 6-2 win.
Stott got the win, pitching a complete game, striking out 11, walking two and allowing two runs on six hits.
Jordon went 3-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Jones had two hits, including another double, with one RBI.
The Lancers first game in the Division I playoffs is scheduled for Thursday, June 5, at LHS, against the #14 seed, the Concord Crimson Tide, starting at 4 p.m.
Concord finished the season at 8-12, but had a close 3-4 loss to Londonderry.
