The High School Boys’ Cross-Country team ran in the annual Manchester Invitational where they finished in 14th place out of the 36 New England teams competing.
The Lancers took to the newly configured course at Derryfield Park competing in the Boys’ Varsity Large School Race where they got a fourth-best finish out of NH teams and the third best in Division I.
There were nearly 250 finishers in the race with Tam Gavenas of Phillips Academy taking first place with a time of 15:24.8. Alex Fisher of Loomis Chaffee, Conn. took second at 15:37 and Sean McCauley of East Lyme, Conn. was third at 16:12.3.
For Londonderry, junior Carson Fitzgerald was the top Lancer to cross the line, taking 49th overall at 17:30.30.
Junior Josh Twomey came in at 55th with a time of 17:37.10 and fellow junior Jack DiBuono took 70th at 17:54.60.
Other LHS runners were: Senior, Alex Vaccaro (120 place) at 18:36.50; sophomore Mason Hernandez (173 place) at 19:17.30; junior, Cash Robles (179 place) at 19:21; sophomore, Joey Gainey (213 place) at 20:22.80.
The Londonderry squad was without freshman Patrick Ramsey who competed in the Freshmen Race where he placed second overall with a time of 10:50.4. Ramsey has been the team’s third runner in the first two meets of the season.
The Girls’ Large School Varsity race had 222 runners from around New England, with four Londonderry finisher.
Senior, Sade White (81st) at 21:40.0; sophomore, Gabby DeLong (117) at 22:26.6; junior, Ella DiBuono (138) at 22:56.3; and sophomore, Harper Labonte (170) at 24:08.3.
Lancers, Anna Lauferweiler and Stella Dutton, finished in first and second place in the Girls’ Freshman race. Aylin Hand had a 24th place finish.
The Lancers were able to get a preview of the new course that will be used as the Divisional Championship meets at the end of the season.
