Londonderry Golf Team Head Into State Championship

The Londonderry High School Varsity Golf team lost four of their starting seniors last year and needed every player to step up this year – and step up they did. The team finished with a 15-10 record, finishing the season in sixth place in Division I and qualifying for the DI State Tournament for the fourth year in a row.

This year’s team consists of: Junior Nick Bishop; senior Carter Browning; freshman Colton Cameron; freshman Connor Fucile; senior Zach Green; junior Graham Killelea; senior Cole Metivier; senior Ryan Palmer; junior Theo Paccione; and sophomore Charlie Varnum.

According to coach, Dan Grant, his team is anchored by senior captain, Carter Browning, with his skill and calm demeanor. Browning also had the leading scoring average on the team. Carter will continue his golf career at Western New England College in the fall of 2025 where he will major in finance.
Senior Cole Metivier has improved greatly over the course of last year and his round of a 35 helped defeat Bedford in the regular season, handing the #1 ranked Bulldogs their only loss of the season.
Senior captain, Zach Green, made his varsity debut this season and has steadily improved his scoring average with his hard work and dedication.
Senior Ryan Palmer has also made great contributions this year with rounds in the 30s, helping preserve several wins for the Lancers this season. This has been a really great group of golfers to be around this season – they all help one another and pull for one another on the course and on the practice range. Grant commented, “It’s been a pleasure coaching them and I will miss this group of seniors next season.”
Only the top eight teams in D-I qualify for the playoffs out of the 17 D-I teams.
The 2024 NHIAA Golf Championship was held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Canterbury Woods Country Club.
The winner will be invited to compete in a national event.
The top 16 individual male scores will participate in the “individual” championship, which is held Saturday, Oct. 19, at Beaver Meadow Country Club. Last year, Londonderry’s Carter Browning and Patrick O’Connor made the Individual Championship.
