Londonderry Tennis Teams Get Started for a New Spring Season

The Londonderry High School Tennis teams continue to build as they began the 2024 spring season, seeing some success.
The LHS girls’ squad, coached again by Betty Wong-Mak, got off to a strong start in the team’s first match of the season.
Taking on the Lady Tomahawks of Merrimack High School, at home on Tuesday, April 2, the Lancers were able edge out their vistor’s 5-4, for the team’s first.
Ali Von Pichl gave her team an 8-3 victory in her number two singles match against Jess Hordin. Number four player, April Edmunds, had an 8-4 win over Emily Theriault and Riley Doyle had a 8-3 victory over Maya Scott for the Lancers third singles win.
In doubles, the team of Doyle and Maya Daaboul gave Londonderry a 8-1 win and Bianca Bettencourt with Abby Jones were able to get the team’s fifth win of the night with an 8-0 shutout.
One week later, after the April snowstorm, the girls’ team suffered a 3-6 loss on the road to the Bishop Guertin Cardinals.
Londonderry had two singles wins.
Jillian Mazzola had an 8-4 win in the number one spot and Doyle gave her team an 8-4 win in the number six spot. Mazzola and Von Pichl had the squads only other victory, an 8-2 win in doubles.
The Londonderry Boys, under the leadership of Alex Burbine, had an outstanding start to their season, shutting out the Merrimack Tomahawks 9-0.
The team’s other game was postponed until this week.
