The Londonderry High School Boys’ and Girls’ Tennis Teams had an exceptional start to the season, with the girls winning two matches and the boys having a victory in the season’s home opener.
The Lancers girls’ tennis team opened its season at Spaulding High School, finishing with a dominant victory by posting a 9-0 over the Red Raiders.


Londonderry swept all six singles and three doubles matches in a complete team effort.
The team’s singles line-up was led off by two young newcomers. Freshman Meera Chakravarthy, the team’s Number One player, easily got by her opponent with an 8-0 win. Fellow freshman, Sophia Thapa, taking the number two spot, was able to battle through a hard-fought 8-6 win.
Sophomore Tess Goding, (#4) and junior Maddy Murray (#6) also tallied 8-0 shutout victories to add to the season opener excitement.
Juniors Abby Mantegari (#3) and Lyla Kullman (#5) added 8-3 victories for the 6-0 singles start.
The LHS squad continued its dominance in doubles competition.
The team of Chakravarthy and Murray defeated a senior Spaulding duo 8-4 in a match filled with aggressive serving.
Thapa and Kullman secured an 8-5 win, and the team of Goding and Mantegari closed out the sweep with an 8-0 shutout.
In the team’s home opener, on Friday afternoon, April 10, they continued winning in all but one match, beating the Manchester Central Little Green 8-1
The team’s depth is something the Lancers have not had for a number of years and they were able to set the tone for what promises to be an exciting girls tennis season.
The Lancer boys also had a near perfect start to their season, with just one match to start the season last week, LHS started with a victory.
Londonderry traveled to Manchester Central on Friday where they captured an 8-1 win, sweeping in doubles and going 5-1 in singles.
The team’s #1 player Neel Chakravartmy and the #5 player Mason Lindholm both served up 8-1 victories for the team.
Jaden Wu (#3) tallied a strong 8-3 win, while the team’s #2, Teige Broadhurst doubled up his opponent for an 8-4 win.
The final singles victory came from Jacob Palmieri with a hard-fought extra frame 9-7-match win.
In doubles, the team of Chakravartmy and Broadhurst had a strong 8-2 victory, as did the team of Palmieri and Sean Pasternak.
The doubles duo of Wu and Lindholm finished their match at 8-5.
