Marines Thank Veteran as He Hits the Century Mark

Two days before his actual 100-year birthday, resident, Richard Taylor, had a party thrown for hitting this major milestone. Taylor has lived in town his whole life and served in Marine Air Group 25 in 1942 during the Pacific Theater of Operations in World War II. Three local marines attended the birthday party to thank Taylor for his service at that time and present him with a letter of appreciation.
Taylor was born and raised in the home he still lives in on Mammoth Road and served as the town’s Post Master when the Post Office was in Londonderry Village on Mammoth Road. His wife, Alice, who passed in 2015, was the Town Clerk and Tax Collector for 30-years, starting in 1961. His son, Rick Taylor, and daughter, Donna Bradley, were present at the event. Talyor also has five grandchildren and two great grandchilren. American Legion Post 27 Commander, Bob Stuart, and marines, Levi Eisenhour and Gerry Goncalo presented the framed letter to Taylor.
