Matthew Thornton Principals Make Good on Race Promise

Matthew Thornton Principal Amity Small and Assistant Principal Scott Sicard raced around their school last week as a way to reward students for their fundraising efforts this fall. Last month, the PTA organized a Fun Run with the Boosterthon group involving all grades just before April vacation. The race raised over $20,000 that will be used to dress up the courtyard, get some activities for classrooms, and help fund field trips. The principals made a deal with students that if the school raised over $20,000 in the two weeks leading to April vacation, Sicard and Small would race trikes around the building dressed as characters from Super Mario Brothers. Sicard was the winner of the race and was awarded bragging rights and a trophy for his efforts. Photos by Chris Paul
