Melvin Nelson Jr.

Melvin L. Nelson Jr., 58, of Londonderry died Oct. 12, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Everett, Mass., on May 12, 1958, a son of the late Melvin L. Nelson Sr. and Gloria (Generazzo) Nelson. He was raised in Stoneham, Mass., and had resided in Londonderry for the past 27 years. Early on, he started working at his family’s machine shop. He rose to the position of quality engineer for Textron Defense Systems in Wilmington, Mass. He enjoyed the many years he coached baseball for the Senior Babe Ruth League and the Londonderry Athletic Field Association. He loved cooking, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Heidi Nelson of Londonderry; his daughter, Lindsey Guerard and her husband, Matthew, of Deerfield; his son, Eric Nelson and his wife, Kayla, of Londonderry; his granddaughter, Avery Grace Guerard of Deerfield; his siblings Dianne DiBella of Lowell, Mass., Thomas Nelson of Salem, NH, and Laura Gilson of Stoneham, Mass., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours were Oct. 16 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 17 at St. Mark Church, Londonderry.
