Rest assured that New England Gymnastics Training Center athletes and teams get noticed at competitions. And the reasons why that is came straight to the fore recently when the locals won the 2017-18 state championship in Pelham and then bagged a first place and a second at an event in Salem.
At both events, Londonderry residents stood tall in helping their NEGTC crews to significant successes.
“Well, we did it. All our hard work paid off,” said NEGTC press liaison Daysha Hatfield of the state championship meet success in Pelham on March 17 and 18. “The NEGTC girls became victorious with a sweeping win over all other gyms in New Hampshire. We are so proud of our girls.”
On individual levels, the NEGTC won crowns on Level 4 (score of 190.275) and on Level 5 as well (110.525) at that major event.
Among individual gymnasts, nobody made any bigger news than proud mom Daysha Hatfield’s daughter Shana, who became a state champion with an all-around score of 38.325 which placed her 46th in America’s Top 100 for top all-around score by a Level 4 athlete.
At that state title event, Londonderry girls who excelled included Level 4 Division 7-8 competitor Addison Doyle with second places in the all-around and the floor exercise, thirds on balance beam and bars, and a fourth on vault.
Shana Hatfield tallied wins on vault (9.575), uneven bars (9.7), and the all-around as well as a third on beam and a fourth on floor in her Level 4 class.
Also in that division, Katherine Rowan snared first on floor (tied at 9.525) and seconds in the all-around, on vault, bars, and beam.
In Level 4 Division 10-A, Cailee Anderson took a second on bars and went top-five on vault and floor as well.
Level 4, Division 11-A competition saw Sophia Beauregard place first on floor (9.625) and vault (9.375), second in the all-around, and third on beam.
In Level 5, 10-and-under action, Londonderry’s Faith Carrier claimed top-five finishes on vault, bars, beam, and in the all-around.
Then at the 2018 A2x2 Invitational in Salem from March 23-25, the NEGTC gymnasts bagged a title at the Xcel Platinum level and a second on Level 3.
Local residents on the successful Level 3 squad included Xtreme Division competitor Hayley Doyle, who snared a third place tie on vault and other top-10 finishes in the all-around and on bars, beam, and floor.
On the Xcel Bronze level, Xcellent Division gymnast Ava Bicchieri tallied second place on vault and four other top-10 finishes.
And Xcel Silver, Astonishing division athlete Riley Doyle proved unbeatable on vault (9.15) and went top-10 in the all-around, on bars, on beam, and on floor.
The NEGTC girls are coached by owner Tim Madore along with Melanie Stoller, Justine Turner, Sherry Harper, Robin Flavin, Georgia Doughtery, and Kelsi Pincence.
