Patricia May Smith (Patty) of Hampstead, NH, died peacefully after a courageous battle of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Pat was born April 20, 1941, in Nashua, NH, beloved daughter of Stanley Newton Smith of Loudon, and Elsie L. Lequin of Lowell, MA. Patty grew up in Hollis, NH where she attended grammar school. She graduated from Mt. St. Mary High School in Nashua and Merrimack College in North Andover with a degree in Accounting. She worked many years at St. John’s Hospital in Lowell and at several accounting firms in Lowell and Andover. Pat was a dedicated volunteer at Hospice House Haverhill where she was beloved by the people she worked with. She was also devoted to the many special needs children she helped throughout the years. Pat volunteered at several historical societies in Andover, North Andover and Hampstead. Her love for history and family ancestry lead her on a wonderful journey of family genealogy and she spent years researching and sharing her information. Always devoted to the wellbeing of others, she donated money through the Unbound Program for the education of young Kenneth Ladroma of the Philippines. Her interest in travel took her throughout the United States, Europe, to Beirut, Lebanon, and the Middle East. Having a love for music she enjoyed concerts at Symphony Hall in Boston and at Merrimack College. Some of her hobbies were quilting, woodworking, and collecting family pictures. Among her many outstanding qualities, we especially remember her love of life, strength, and sense of humor. She was a humble servant and an inspiration to everyone. Most of all, Pat loved her family and friends and enjoyed being with them. She is survived by her beloved friend Bill Chandler of Hampstead, NH; her brother Donald R. Smith and his wife Evelyn of Belgrade, Maine; brother Norman Smith and his wife Janet of Nashua, NH; her sister Suzanne Baum and husband Dwight of Acton, MA. She is the beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews and the grand aunt to their children. She is survived by nephew Robert Smith and his wife Judy of Woodbridge, VA; their four children grandnephews Craig and Jared of Woodbridge, VA, and grandnieces Laurianne of California and Allison of Lynn, MA; niece Roseanne Ristau and her husband Willard of Albany, NY, grandniece Tracy Ristau, also of Albany; niece Stacy Burek and her husband Kevin of Nashua, NH; grandniece Sarah Walsh, Nashua, NH; nephew John Burek of Newton, NH; nephew John A. Baum of Acton, Ma; niece Andrea N. Baum of Boston, MA; great-grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends. Family and friends may call on Thursday, October 6 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Michael Parish, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am followed by a Mercy Meal in St Michael’s Church Parish Hall. Her funeral procession will leave St.Michaels Church at 1:30 for her burial at 2 PM in St. Joseph’s Cemetery Jersey Street, Pepperell, MA. to which family and friends are invited to attend.
