Post 27 Junior Legion Baseball Off to 3-2 Start

The Londonderry Post 27 Junior Legion Baseball squad began its season earlier this month with three wins and two losses.
The wins were against Post 32 of Exeter, Post 67 of Newmarket and Salem’s Post 63, one of which was taken in dramatic fashion.
On Tuesday, June 11, Post 27 waited until the final inning to snatch the win at home over Exeter’s Post 32.
Heading into the seventh, trailing 2-0, Londonderry took advantage of an early fielding error and three batters being hit at the plate to score three runs and the victory.
Brady Fuller hit the game-winning single to score two and the walk off win. Connor Loughlin also hit a single in the run-scoring single in the inning.
Sully Daron earned the win, pitching all seven innings with 11 strikeouts, three hits, and two earned runs. Daron walked just one.
The only Londonderry extra-base hit went Jace Ruggiero, who hit a double to right field in the fourth inning.
The team’s second win of the season came as a blowout against Post 67. The 15-4 win came two days after a 6-7 loss in Newmarket to the same team.
Londonderry made it an early game, needing just four innings at the plate for the mercy-rule victory.
Post 27 scored three in the first, another in the second, four in the third and seven in the fourth.
Ruggiero got the win, despite giving up six hits and four runs, with three strikeouts and a walk.
Loughlin was 3-3 at the plate and drove in four runs. Graham Killelea was 3-4 at the plate with one run batted in.
Loughlin and Killelea both had doubles in the one-sided victory.
On Monday, June 17, the Post 27 team traveled to Salem where there were able to come away with a 5-2 victory.
Post 63 took the early lead, scoring on a passed ball with two outs.
Londonderry came back in the third inning, scoring four runs with the help of two errors and four singles.
Post 27’s final run was due to an error at third in the fifth.
The win went to Daron, pitching six innings with six Ks, five walks, and five hits.
Nate Halko got the save with one inning, one hit, one run and one strikeout.
