The Londonderry American Legion Post 27 Senior Baseball squad are heading into the final week of the regular season with an 11-7 record after winning three of four games last week.
The Post 27 Seniors had two shutout victories, a 6-2 win and a close 2-1 loss in their weeklong stretch.
Londonderry began their week in Exeter, on Tuesday afternoon, where they came away with a 8-0 win over Post 32.
Owen Carey and Ryan Williams went three for four at the plate to contribute to the 13 hits and five RBIs the team tallied in the game.
Williams also had an impressive game from the mound, pitching seven innings, giving up just four hits, striking out six, and walking three batters for the win.
The first run of the game came in the second inning, when Drew Heenan crossed the plate by stealing home.
The second run came off the bat of Drew Heenan, who singled to centerfield after Liam Stott doubled to center.
The Post 27 crew tacked on six more runs in the seventh with six singles, a walk, and an error by Exeter.
Two days later, Londonderry was out-hit 7-4 in the first game of a double-header against Coffey Post 3, in Nashua, in a close 2-1 loss at Holman Stadium.
Starting Post 27 pitcher, Kevin Rourke, had a tough day on the mound after coming off a no-hitter in the previous week. He pitched five innings, gave up seven hits and one run before handing the ball to Jayden Hamilton, who gave up the winning run on a pass ball with two outs in the sixth.
Rourke, Carey, and Hamilton were the Post 27 batters with hits, with Rourke getting two of the four hits in the game.
The Londonderry bats came to life in the second game of the evening, with Post 27 out-hitting Post 3, 10 to 4.
Hamilton got the win in this game, pitching three relief innings, allowing just one hit.
Four Post 27 batters came away with two hits in the 6-2 win. Jack Marshall, Devin Boles, Brady Anderson, and Stott all got two hits, with one of Marshall’s hits being a two-bagger in the sixth inning with bases loaded, scoring three.
The final game of the week was a make-up game from earlier in the week.
Londonderry came away with their second shutout victory of the week when they hosted Derry Post 9 on Sunday morning and came away with a 7-0 win.
The team’s final regular season game was scheduled for Tuesday, July 18, at home, against Concord Post 21.
The team’s 11-7 record puts them in third place in the District B standings and they are currently the #3 seed in the upcoming tournament. Post 3 is in first place with a record of 15-2 and Portsmouth’s Post 6 is in second at 15-3.
