Rain Finally Holds Off for Annual Fun Runs to Begin

After having to hold off on beginning the annual Kid’s Summer Fun Runs for three weeks due to rain, the Greater Derry Track Club (GDTC) finally got a break in the weather on Monday evening, July 17, to welcome runners to the Londonderry High School track to participate in the yearly races.
The first official week of races had 288 runners register and it was announced that another week would be added to the season due to the weather cancellations.


The free races will continue each Monday night, until Aug. 7, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the LHS track.
As in previous years, races were run in several age groups from two-on-up, with the results of the 9-13 ages being recorded for end-of-season prizes.
In the younger age groups, every participant receives a ribbon for competing.
The top three finishers in the first week of racing were:
In the boys’ 9-year-old group, three Derry runners took the top three spots, Rylan Cullen was first, TJ Satosuosso was second, and Joziah Jorge was third.
The girls’ 9-year-old group had Sasha Solovyeva of Hudson finish in first, Audrey Pisani of Derry was second, and Ryla Zatsky of Windham took third.
The boys’ 10-year-old group had Andrew Solovyev of Hudson take first, Colin McKenna of Derry in second, and Reid Spencer of Londonderry in third.
In the girls’ 10-year-old group, Calina MacGillivray of Londonderry came in first, Brooke Reiff of Windham was second, and Madeline Tveter of Derry was third.
In the boys’ 11-year-old race, Nicholas Tiney, of Sandown was first, Nathan White of Derry was second, and Toby Molloy of Manchester took third.
In the girls’ 11-year-old race, Meghan Mullaney finished first and Adelynn Mullaney was second.
In the boys’ 12-year-old race, Bennett MacCulloch of Londonderry was first, Jacob Tiney of Sandown finished second, and Jonathan Tveter of Derry was third.
In the girls’ 12-year-old division, Isley Morrison of Londonderry was first, Emma Cyr of Londonderry came in second, and Kelsey Santosuosso of Derry, finished in third.
For the boys’ 13-year-old group, Mason Hernandez of Londonderry took first, Dominic White of Derry was second, and Logan Reiff of Windham was third.
There were no girls running in the 13-year-old group.
The free series begins each week with registration starting at 6 p.m., followed by races starting at 6:30p.m. The series is scheduled to end on Aug. 7.
Non-perishable food donations are appreciated as an entry fee to help support local food pantries.
