Residents Question Who Is Running Londonderry

More questions were raised about the status of Town Manager Mike Malaguti, during the Nov. 12 Londonderry Town Council meeting.
Malaguti recently submitted his letter of resignation giving the Town Council six months notice, however, it is unclear if the Town Council plans to allow Malaguti to continue until then or move in a different direction.
Brian Young, the Vice President of Professional Fire Fighters of Londonderry Local 3160 spoke at the meeting. Saying, “Our local would like some stability. We’ve noticed that the Town Manager has been absent.” The union represents the Londonderry Fire Department.
Young said there has been no follow-up, and said it’s the union’s understanding that it’s the towns hold up for why the fire chief position hasn’t been posted yet.
Bo Butler, previously announced his resignation from the position of Londonderry Fire Chief during a Town Council meeting in October.
“We’d like to see some direction, some stability and some movement forward,” Young said.
Also speaking during the meeting was former Town Councilor Jim Butler, who is also the father of Bo Butler.
Butler explained that during the Oct. 7 meeting he “asked for information concerning open positions in the town and related costs.”
He said it wasn’t in the meeting minutes and asked why.
“It is now approximately 35 days and I have not received what I requested, 35 days,” Butler said during the meeting. “I’m a taxpayer in Town. I’ve been a taxpayer for 34 years and I still haven’t received anything.”
He added: “35 days gentlemen, poor management, unacceptable.”
Butler also explained that Dan Bouchard, a former Londonderry Police Officer, also had asked for information, but is request went unanswered at the time of the meeting.
“One must wonder why we have requests under 91A (and) what has been the cost for the Town executing 91As for the last three years,” Butler said.
Butler also stated he has had people ask him about Malaguti since he has submitted his letter of resignation.
“It would be great if the town kind of told us who is running the Town,” Butler said.
Ahead of the meeting last week, Town Council Chair Chad Franz said he did not have an update when asked by the Londonderry Times.
“Council is actively working on next steps on how to process and proceed best for the community. We are aggressively doing this,” Franz said during the meeting at the end of public comment. “I understand there’s a lot of questions, I understand there’s some concerns. The council is actively and aggressively working on next steps and everything is going to be alright.”
Franz said they didn’t have an exact time frame of when they would be able to discuss it “in short order.”
As of Tuesday, Nov. 19, there has still been no announcement made on who is currently running the Town of Londonderry.
