Ahead of the first days of school, the Londonderry School Board received an update from new Londonderry School District Facilities Director, Joseph Parzych, during its most recent meeting.
“I’ve been spending a lot of time in the buildings, getting to know the staff, getting to know the buildings, kind of catch up on all the big projects,” Parzych said.
Parzych explained that the other administrators in the District have been helpful towards him as he began the transition.
“I’m excited to be here and I’m excited for the school year,” Parzych said.
One of the projects this summer Parzych pointed to includes having new roof top units being installed at the high school, saying their HVAC tech has “been a huge help.”
“He’s been a huge asset catching me up with everything going on with this project,” Parzych said.
Another project Parzych pointed to includes new boilers and duck work being installed at South School.
Parzych also pointed to carpet work being done at some of the schools this summer.
“We have some carpet thats been replaced at the high school along with two classrooms at Moose Hill,” Parzych said, noting they have also been painting the hallways at Londonderry High School, and at the North School cafeteria.
“There’s been a lot of painting throughout the district, they have been doing a really great job, and I think those small details go a long way,” Parzych said.
During the week of their Aug. 6 meeting, Parzych pointed out that they were installing the new water heater at Matthew Thornton, and at Londonderry Middle School, the underground oil tank was removed.
At South School, flooring replacement for the nurse’s office and bathroom was expected and fire alarm upgrades at South School and Londonderry Middle School.
“A real big thank you to all the staff we have in all our buildings,” Parzych said, explaining they have worked really hard this summer.
Following the presentation, School Board Chair, Bob Slater, thanked Parzych for his work so far since taking over the role.
“Thank you Joe, welcome aboard, it looks like you’ve been busy,” Slater said.
Parzych explained the schools have a lot of people who are passionate and said “I’m really excited to be part of it.”
The next School Board meeting is Sept. 17.
