The annual Memorial Day Ceremony held at South Elementary School returned in full-form this year with the entire school participating in a way to honor local veterans for their service. Local veteran speakers included: Jack Martin, Marine; Steve Costa, Army; John Webster, Air Force; and Michael Finn, Marine Corp. Piper Eryk Bean began and ended the service as well as the school’s band. Each grade performed a patriotic song for those attending and the school’s chorus sang the anthems of each branch of the military as well as a closing song “The Brave.” This will be Principal Linda Boyd’s last ceremony as she prepares to retire at the end of the school year.
