St. Jude Parish Preparing For Craft Fair Ahead of Holiday Season

It may be hard to believe, but Christmas is already only two months away. And while it may be tempting to jump at the first opportunity to hit the mall or head online to find some gifts, Saint Jude Parish is gearing up to offer an alternative that may peak your interests.

That is because the church will be holding its thirty ninth annual Country Christmas Fair on Nov. 4, and with it a whole host of great gift ideas for the holidays.

Denise Pratt, one of the Co-Chairs for the event, mentioned that the Fair was initially put together by a rather large section of the church’s Women’s Guild. Known as the Crafters, around twenty five women meet throughout most of the year to partake in various projects and share their crafting skills.

The event has always seen massive success in the past, considering that it has been going on for close to four decades, and even some of the congregants who took place in the first fair are still with the group today.

“They’ll be standing in line at 9 o’clock”, Pratt noted.

Amongst the items that can be expected to be sold at the event include bath and baby items, knitted and crocheted items and a variety of foods, including jams, jellies, pickles, maple syrups, baked goods, seasonal dips and more.

Speaking of baked goods, there will also be a “cookie walk”, wherein attendees can purchase an empty tin for five dollars and set about choosing from a large assortment of fresh cookies to fill their tin with.

Furthermore, the Crafters will also be selling their own cookbook, titled “Cooking with Friends”, which features a multitude of recipes developed by members of the group over the years.

And several items are also expected to be raffled off throughout the day, including a queen-sized quilt entitled “A Floral Fantasy”, as the quilt will be covered in numerous beautiful flower designs.

There will also be a children’s activity area and lunch will be served to those who attend, and all proceeds earned during the event will be going towards Saint Jude Parish.

“Every dime goes to the church”, Pratt stated.

The fair will be taking place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, contact the church at (603) 432-3333.
