This year’s Old Home Day celebration featured a newly added softball tournament with four teams battling it out for bragging rights and a shinny new trophy.
The contest was settled in three five-inning games, with the winners of the first two games, squaring off in the final, winner take on finale.
The first game featured a cop vs. cop match-up with Team Ammo out gunning Team Zeus 17-1.
Team Ammo scored in every inning with the Zeus squad scoring in just their final at bat.
The second contest featured a team from Town Hall vs. the Londonderrry Fire Department.
This was a much closer game, with each side scoring eight runs by the end of the five-inning match-up.
In the first extra-inning, LFD kept the town scoreless in their at bat, then scored two runs at the bottom of the final frame for the 10-8 victory.
Unfortunately for team LFD, the jubilation was short-lived as Team Ammo continued to tear it up at the plate in the deciding game of the evening.
The police squad scored 13 unanswered runs for the 13-0 decision at the first “Londonderry Classic Softball Tournament”
