Town of Londonderry Looks to Fill a Number of Positions

The town of Londonderry has a number of employment opportunities in several departments.
They are looking to fill three Planning Department positions, two Department of Public Works, Engineering and Environmental jobs, a fire fighter, a Town Clerk, a Reference Librarian, and a Clerk.

According to the website, the Planning Department is still looking for a Town Planner that brings a salary of between $75,810.03 and $99,176.61.
This is a forty-hour per week position, but additional hours may be required to meet the needs of the department. Requires attendance at meetings and hearings with state and local boards, commissions, organizations, authorities, and related groups and organizations.
The applicant will be expected to perform and coordinates planning and zoning work within the Planning and Economic Development Department in the development of a comprehensive plan and implementation of the Town’s ordinances for orderly growth of the Town. This job provides administrative staff support to the Assistant Town Manager/Director of Economic Development (ATM/DED), Planning Board, and Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA).
This is a senior-level staff position requiring the ability to supervise, organize and coordinate the planning and zoning activities of the Town consistent with direction from the Town Manager and ATM/DED.
The Town Planner provides staff support to the Planning Board and ZBA.
Assists in the preparation of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), and grant proposals. Provides technical assistance to the Town Manager, Town Council, ATM/DED, Planning Board, Zoning Board, and other Town Staff and Departments, Boards, Committees, and Organizations regarding planning, zoning, and other land use matters. Position exercises considerable independent judgment in developing, interpreting and implementing land use management policies, plans and ordinances.
The Planning Department is also looking for a Land Use Assistant.
The position performs highly visible and moderately complex clerical work and administrative support for the operations of the Planning and Economic Development Department. The position reports to the Assistant Town Manager/Director of Economic Development (ATM/DED) and may receive general direction and supervision from the Town Planner.
Candidates will be expected to perform duties with some degree of independence, exercising good judgment in answering inquiries and directing questions to the appropriate personnel.
The position pays between $22.13 (Step 1) to $28.13 (Step 9) and will work 28-hours per week with additional hours required to attend Board and Commission meetings and hearings.
The department is also in search of a Recording Secretary at $18 per hour.
This position will help to compose minutes for various board, committee and commission meetings. The applicant will need to attend evening meetings to compose, record, and send transcribed meeting minutes to appropriate town staff within five business days of the meeting.
Experience in transcription is preferred and the ability to read, write and speak English effectively, and establish and maintain effective working relationship with town staff.
The Department of Public Works, Engineering and Environmental is looking for an Assistant
Director of Engineering & Environmental Services.
The salary range is $82,694 to $104,771 with a 40-hour workweek and additional hours required when necessary.
The job requires applicants to assists in managing the Public Works Department and staff to provide effective and efficient services to the citizens of the Town. This position involves the application of managerial and civil engineering knowledge and skills to a variety of functions within the department. Responsible for planning, directing, conducting, and administering functions of the engineering, environmental and construction services. Performs duties independently using good judgment in setting project and work priorities and scheduling. Consults with Director of Engineering & Environmental Services on policy matters, problematic situations, planning major projects, issues concerning other departments, and other matters of concern and interest to the Town.
The department is also looking for an Assistant Solid Waste Attendant.
The job has a nine to 14 hour work-week and pays $17 per hour. Nine hours on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., generally from April through November, and five hours on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. from April – November.

The Fire Department is looking for a Firefighter/Paramedic or Firefighter EMT (AEMT preferred).
The job pays between $22.93 to $32.97per hour depending on the position.
It is a full-time position consisting of 24 hours on duty followed by 24 hours off duty, then 24 hours on followed by five days off, for an average of 42-hours per week, with overtime required occasionally.
Applicants are expected to perform highly responsible skilled firefighting and emergency medical services involving control and extinguishment of fires, treating and transporting the sick and injured, technical and water rescue, above and below grade confined space rescue, dispatching, fire station and equipment maintenance, identification and mitigation of hazardous materials incidents and community service.
The Leach Library is looking for a Reference Librarian with a starting salary of $24.61 per hour plus paid time off and a comprehensive benefits package.
The job requires a 40-hour workweek including some mornings, evenings, and Saturdays.
Work assignments will include providing direct customer service at the reference desk approximately 20 hours per week, planning adult programs for the community, and assisting with collection development. The full job description is available on the library’s website.
An ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science and 1-3 years of public library experience working in reference and/or adult services required.
The Town Clerk is looking to fill a Clerk’s Assistant position at $20.84 (Step 1) to $26.43 (Step 9).
This job requires a 28-hour workweek Monday – Friday (afternoons) and requires a highly responsible clerical person assigned to the Collections Department. Applicants will perform complex clerical work associated with the operation of the office and will report directly to and is accountable to the Town Clerk, with ancillary reporting duties to the Tax Collector.
