The Beautify Londonderry Committee developed a new program called Sponsor-A-Spot and a number of local business volunteers gathered at South Elementary School to help clean up gardens that have been overrun by weeds. Unlike Sponsor-A-Road, which focuses on roadside clean-up by volunteer businesses, Sponsor-A-Spot concentrates on beautifying smaller, specific public places through gardening and landscaping endeavors. The South School’s garden area is the first spot the group have targeted this year. Supplies were donated by Estey’s Lumber and volunteers from Jersey Mike’s and Planet Fitness worked to clear weeds leaves and unwanted brush. Photos by Chris Paul
