The Londonderry High School Wrestling team had a very busy week as they finished off the regular season and prepare for the Division I State Championship.
The team’s final home meet of the year came on Wednesday night, where they also celebrated the team’s senior members.
In the dual meet against the Windham Jaguars on Jan. 31, the Lancers fell 42-34.
Senior Patrick O’Connor (190 lbs.) and Jordan Couture (215 lbs.) received forfeit wins to begin the evening, followed by a victory by Dakota Shaffer, 285 lbs., by fall at 1:40 in the match.
Other fall wins came from Caleb Holden (132 lbs.) at 5:11 and David Pento Jr. (175 lbs.) at 1:31.
Senior Finn Millis (157 lbs.) had an 11-1, Major Decision victory over Rocco Ponzini.
The teams only other senior, Gabe Mosley, did not factor into the final results.
The following night, in a make-up match against the Owls, the Lancers traveled to Timberlane Regional High School and was only able to come away with five bout wins in a 51-23 loss.
At 144 lbs., Brendan Egan defeated Jordan Casey with a Fall at 3:33.
Manny Perez (150 lbs.) got a 5-2 decision over Jacob Morrissey.
Millis, at 157 lbs., (LOND) got a 9-1 major decision over Jason O’Brien.
At 175 lbs., Pento easily handled Kyle Linblad with a 16-2 major decision and Patrick O’Connor (190 lbs.) pinned Spencer Sierra at 3:59 for the teams fifth win of the night.
Two days later, the Lancers headed to Connecticut for the annual New Fairfield Duals where they faced threes teams, winning just one of them.
The Lancers only team-win of the week came during their match against Nonnewaug High School of Woodbury CT.
Londonderry celebrated a 45-34 victory with wins in eight weight classes.
Jake McClory (126 lbs.) Fall at 0:13; Moqsid Rahmani (138 lbs.) 6-5 Decision; Conner Parsons (150 lbs.) Fall at 0:47; Manny Perez (157 lbs.) Fall at 3:52; Finn Millis (165 lbs.) Fall at 4:48; and David Pento (175 lbs.) Fall at 1:49). Patrick O’Connor (190 lbs.) and Nikki Stylianos (106 lbs.) both had forfeit wins.
In the Lancers match against, New Fairfield, Londonderry fell 43-34.
Wins came from Brendan Egan, Conner Parsons, Manny Perez, David Pento, Patrick O’Connor, and Nikki Stylianos.
Against Guilford High School, Londonderry fell 57-22. Lancer wins came from: Nikki Stylianos; Jake McClory; Manny Perez, and David Pento.
One team highlight was that senior Patrick O’Connor celebrated his 100th career win during the road trip.
The team will travel to Nashua North High School for their final Dual Meet of the season this week, they will then take a ten day break before hosting the Division I Championship on Saturday, Feb. 17.
