According to Public Information Officer Detective Chris Olson, Londonderry resident Logan Westfall, 18, was arrested on Thursday, July 3 after he tried to elude police.
Westfall was driving a red 2002 Yamaha motorcycle when he passed a police officer at a high rate of speed.
According to Olson, Westfall tried to take off on the officer and subsequently crashed on the side of Mammoth Rd. by Valley St.
Westfall was observed by an officer patrolling Nashua Road. The officer noticed the eastbound motorcyle and clocked it on radar at 96 miles per hour in a 55 m.p.h. zone.
He activated his emergency lights and siren, Olson said.
Olson said that Westfall allegedly passed the officer and made no attempt to stop.
Westfall was observed passing another motorist and pulled away from the officer. It looked like he was accelerating to upwards of 100 miles per hour, Olson said. The officer did not continue pursuit due to safety concerns. However, he saw the motorcycle head down Mammoth Rd. southbound, and as he approached Valley St., he saw it crash on the side of the road.
Olson said that Westfall did not suffer any injuries and was not transported to a hospital.
He was arrested and charged with numerous driving and conduct violations.
Westfall was released on $3,000 personal recognizance and is due to appear at the 10th Circuit Court in Derry on July 28.
